Today Verse: John 14:27
"Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid."
Today Devotional
The world talks a great deal about peace. It searches for peace in treaties, in wealth, in pleasure. But that kind of peace is as fragile as a pane of glass—the first sign of trouble shatters it completely.
But Jesus Christ speaks of a different kind of peace. Notice His words: “My peace I give you.” This is not the absence of storms on the outside; it is the presence of the Son of God on the inside. It is a settled confidence that no matter what comes against you, your soul is anchored to the Rock of Ages. This peace was purchased for you at Calvary. It is a gift, not a wage to be earned. Because He gives you His peace, He gives you His authority to tell your own heart: “Be still.” Do not allow fear to rule you. You belong to the Prince of Peace.
Prayer for the Day
Lord Jesus, my heart is often troubled and afraid. I confess that I have sought peace in worldly things that can never satisfy. Today, I turn from those things and I receive the perfect peace that You alone can give. Settle my spirit. Guard my heart. I trust in You. Amen.
