The world is searching for love in a thousand different places, and so often it comes up empty. But the Bible gives us the one, unchanging proof of a love that is real, a love that is powerful, a love that is for you. Look at this verse! It doesn’t say that Christ died for you after you cleaned up your life. It doesn’t say He waited for you to become perfect. The scripture says that while you were still in the midst of your sin, in your rebellion, in your running from Him—Christ died for you.
God didn’t just say, “I love you.” He demonstrated it. He proved it. The Cross is God’s great declaration to all of humanity, and to you personally, that His love is not based on your performance but on His character. Right now, at this very moment, you are the object of His affection. Don’t ever doubt it. The proof has been planted on a hill called Calvary for all the world to see.
Prayer for the Day
Lord, I am overwhelmed by the truth that You loved me even at my worst. Forgive me for the times I’ve tried to earn a love You give so freely. Let the reality of the Cross burn in my heart today and remind me that I am truly, completely, and forever Yours. Amen.
